My first November post.......how did half a month go by so fast! My mind or rather my memory is not working well these days. Well, Christmas season officially began for me yesterday when John and I, while on our way to Save-On Foods, stopped in to Esquires Coffee. We sat down with our treats and I raised my cup to his and said " here's to Christmas and our first coffee together". He looked at me and said 'we were here not that long ago for coffee, what are you talking about?' I looked back at him, puzzled. He says that we were there, but for the life of me I can't remember the occasion. He remembers it vividly because he is a new lover of the bean and that outing was memorable for him. Oh, we've been in coffee shops together many times, but that was his first ordering a 'coffee' at a coffee place. I am sorry that I don't remember that momentus occasion for him, but I just don't. He tells me that he enjoys my homemade brew so much more than what he has in coffee shops and at work. And while I appreciate the compliment, I very nicely remind him that it doesn't mean that we won't be going out for coffee anymore. He said that he knows that, but he likes my coffee the best, sitting with me in our cozy, comfy livingroom, with music of our choosing and all the privacy we could ask for. sigh, swoon.......what a guy I married.

Happy Halloween
John: "Oh you know, just one of the usual scary movies on Halloween night......a couple of teenagers are in bed, and suddenly the guy comes out of the closet........."
Cathy: "Poor girl, that is scary, don't you just hate it when that happens?

beautiful day in the neighbourhood
It was such a beautiful day today ....crisp, sunny and mucho autumn leaves to admire. I had lots of mail but it was so nice to deliver today. I had to see the doctor today to discuss Menopause with him......yes, I am starting to go through it....he says it's called 'perimenopause', its only called 'Menopause' when you have stopped your period for 12 consecutive months. I have nine more months to go before its official.......and if I do have a period again, then the 12 month count starts all over again. But it is the night sweats that are the most disruptive as it wakes you up and you are drenched in sweat. He gave me something that is supposed to help that aspect - which I will fill tomorrow.......I hope it helps.
I am reading "The Red Queen" by Margaret Drabble.....it is about a Korean princess/queen, based on a true story from manuscripts that were found which were written in the 1700s....the writer has taken lots of liberty in putting a voice, feelings and opinions to the queen but incorporates the historical manuscript information into it. It is an interesting writing style. I'm not sure I am liking the style....it is not an easy read for me, but I like that about it....it is not the same as I usually read....you know, stretches the mind, etc etc.
If you haven't heard of www.bookcrossing.com, I recommend it to anyone to loves to read and to share books with others.
Well, I am heading off to bed.....night night!

I HATE housework
I enjoy making the mess, but I just don't enjoy cleaning it up...........and for two people we manage to make a mess .... and we have too much stuff for two people too and we both have a hard time parting with things because they all have some sort of memory attached to them. What to do?

Two months 'til Christmas
Christmas is my favourite holiday, not just because of my Christian beliefs, but simply due to the focus on family and friends coming together.....which unfortunately some families ONLY see each other on the special holidays. I am from a very small family and we don't see each other even on the special holidays. Yep, that is sad, but I have married into a larger family and they do see each other on all the holidays.
Since John and I got together, I have looked forward to Easter, birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.....the whole family doesn't always get together but we do see everyone even if it is one family at a time rather than the whole group together.
I think that is what I enjoyed most about our wedding reception....having both families and our closest friends altogether celebrating, eating and dancing. That will probably be the last time that happens for me at least while I'm still alive. My side has never been close knit and that is what I always wished for. It is always something that will bug me, but I have a new family to enjoy and get to know and thanks to Facebook, I have reconnected with old friends and made some AWESOME new ones!
Today, we are just hanging out around our house.....John is working on the bedroom closet organizer and I am, when not blogging, cleaning up this house that seems to get really disorganized fast for only two people living in it.
And I'm thinking "Christmas is only two months away!!"....
We have our house decorated for Halloween, just because we enjoy decorating for whatever season/holiday is at hand. But come November 1st, I will start the baking and decorating for Christmas...........
Love Cathy xo

My first blog post
Well, here it is, at 10:04 pm on August 29, 2008 and I have set up my own blog to ramble on about whatever happens in this life, such as it is. Our wedding is only 14 days away and I am feeling stressed with the little details ....the big decisions were easy....it's the little bits and bringing it altogether part that I don't enjoy. I am REALLY looking forward to the honeymoon in Tofino....never been, shame on me!
